Its origins trace back to a fortified tower built by Bishop Landri de Durnes around 1170. After centuries of transformations and decline, Jean-Jacques Mercier preserved the original tower and between 1889 and 1893 commissioned architect Francis Isoz to rebuild the site in a neo-Gothic style tailored to its role as a hotel.
