Strasbourg, the region’s largest city, has a stunning Gothic cathedral and the UNESCO-listed Petite France district, with its adorable riverside cafes. Colmar, also known as the “Capital of Alsatian Wine”, has well-preserved medieval architecture, adorably colorful houses and charming canals through the old town. And the Alsace Wine Route winds through the region, among lush winelands and charming little villages with lots of vineyards offering visits and tastings of its unique local wines, including the region’s signature Riesling and Gewürztraminer.
