Brittany has an unmistakable Celtic and Druidic past. Once an independent kingdom, this mystical French land, marked by rocky coasts and long white sand beaches (its Emerald Coast is abundant on sunshine), has adorable picturesque historical villages and walled cities (Saint-Malo is a must visit) - and is always proud of its festivals. Despite being a favorite of British vacationers since the 19th century, Brittany is still off-crowds in many adorable places. As a peninsula bounded by water on three sides, everything related to the sea is adored in the region - from food to fashion (Brittany is the birthplace of the marinière, the classic and iconic French striped shirt!). On sunny days, you can just grab a seat just along a beach with a clear view of tidal island of Mont Saint Michel. There’s no shortage of water activities, including boating, surfing, snorkeling and paddle-boarding. But travellers can stay pretty much active on land too, with lots of golf, hiking and cycling around. The region’s unique cuisine is also an experience unto itself, from Michelin-starred restaurants to oyster markets: be prepared to taste wonderful crepes, galettes, fresh fish & oysters and lots of pastries baked with the rich Breton butter (disclaimer: seaweed can pop up in the most unexpected dishes).
